 Just like a crow chasing the butterfly. Dandelions lost in the summer sky. When you and I were getting high as outer space, I never thought you'd slip away. I guess I was just a little too late. Basics FULL NAME: Jacob Christian Sloper NICKNAMES: Jack AGE: 26 BIRTHDAY: October 31, 1977 BLOOD STATUS: Halfblood HOUSE/YEAR: Gryffindor of '95 LOCATION: Hogsmeade Village CURRENT RESIDENCE: Two bedroom flat, desperately seeking a roommate. PREVIOUS OCCUPATION(S): Hogwart's student. Struggling musician. CURRENT OCCUPATION: Bartender at Hog's Head & The Three Broomsticks, part-time both. CLASS: Working class Family/Relationships PARENTS: MOTHER: Carrie Sloper nee Crouch [Pureblood, Apothecary]SIBLINGS: Nesta Sloper [Squib, deceased] EXTENDED FAMILY: Various. Most notable, he is cousin to Orsino Thruston. FRIENDS: Gryffindor's DA Members, tbd... SEXUALITY: Bisexual SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None at the moment. CHILDREN: None (that he knows of) Politics LOYALTY/ALLIANCE: The DA and his family. ROLE IN THE WAR: He helped protect the kids at Hogwarts, and he fought in the Final Battle. POLITICAL VIEWS: He has an undefined mixture of Traditionalist and Liberal beliefs. He's not even sure where exactly he stands anymore, and does try to stay firmly out of politics. Appearance OVERVIEW: HEIGHT: 6'1" Personality WAND: 14 ⅛ inches Almond wood with Essence of Phoenix Tail Feather. BOGGART: Being alone. This manifests in complete darkness that blocks anyone else from his view, and does not allow him to hear anything but his own voice. PATRONUS: Dog Loyalty, Companionship. Underworld hounds are white with red ears, they hunt and punish the guilty, they represent tracking skills and companionship as well as Loving protection. DETAILED PERSONALITY: If there is one thing that is glaringly apparent about Jack, then it is his passion toward life and what he loves. If something gets him, it really gets him, and he goes all out. Be it work, his music, or his relationships, he rarely does things by halves. He is certainly the fast paced type that many find hard to keep up with, but he does have his moments when even he gets burned out. His burn outs usually come about from extreme emotional distress. It has only happened once, and the side effect was disastrous in Jack's life. He had to let the boy he cared for go because he could not give him the attention and care he deserved, not when he was pulled in so many different directions. This, followed by the death of his sister, sent Jack in a down spiral. For about a year he was in a very dark place. Usually, Jack is a strong force, generally happy and out-going. He is also apt to strong emotional displays, meaning; when is his happy, he is very happy, and when he is angry, everyone better step out of his way. Jack also has himself standard Gryffindor traits, such as a very strong will that gets him through plenty of hardships, and an almost unsurpassed amount of courage that, at times, leads him into more trouble than he can talk his way out of. He is definitely the type to be at the head of a group, but he is also among the most loyal of friends one can make. Thankfully time has, while not healed his emotional wounds, allowed them to scab over in the healing process. This means he is less like the dark, highly emotional storm cloud he had been after his sister's death. He is steadfastly working toward getting his life back on track. He also has a bit more maturity about him that comes from facing the darker parts of himself, something people are, as of yet, not use to seeing. History CHILDHOOD: As a child, Jack's life was fairly average. He looked up to his older cousin, Orsino, and followed the boy everywhere. He was like an older brother to Jack, and that never changed, even when his younger sister was born. Well loved by the entire family, Nesta was a ray of sunshine. She was always happy, and Jack rarely got too frustrated with her trying to toddle after him, though the adults found it an amusing chain of events. Thankfully, they never mentioned how her habits were so like his own in regard to his older cousin. From a young age Jack showed signs of magic, so it was no wonder that he received an invitation to Hogwarts. However, Nesta, three years younger, still showed no signs of magic. It was fearful, but never said, that she was a squib. She was treated no different, and if any other kids commented on her lack of magic? They had Jack and Orsino to deal with, not to mention the friends the older boy had made made while Jack still waited to get to school. HOGWARTS. Jack would, thankfully, have a few years of normalcy before his life would be tipped upside-down. In Hogwarts, Jack began to run with a different crowd. Not that he sought to separate himself from his cousin and his friends, but more that the friends he made on his own kind of drew him away from them. Not that he didn't get caught up in their music frenzy, learning to play guitar and sing right along with them. However, his musical taste differed from theirs, so when they formed a band without him? There were no hard feelings. Jack was perfectly happy playing and singing on his own. When Harry Potter entered Hogwarts it was a difficult time for Jack's family, as they had it confirmed that his sister was, indeed, a squib. Lacking magic and unable to attend Hogwarts, they had to set her up in the muggle world. Her life would be forever separated from his own, and the fact she was generally sickly did not help. Then there was school. The normalcy of his first few years was out the window with the entry of Harry Potter. It was not so bad at first, with it mainly being all about his celebrity status. Then things became dangerous. Each year that passed made Jack worry, but it was hardly the boy's fault that trouble sought him out year after year. And, well, Harry Potter was his House Mate, and House Mate's had to stick together. In his years at Hogwarts he made many friends, some rivalries, some enemies. He was a reserve Beater for the Team, and made a rather hilarious mistake and bashing in Angelina's face, not that she found it nearly as amusing as he had. He even joined the DA, though he was a seventh year at the time, but he still learned a good number of things he would later find useful. Graduating after the farce of Headmistress Umbridge - what a laugh here - Jack entered the world excited to live his life. POST-HOGWARTS. After leaving Hogwarts, things proceeded to get progressively worse. His sister was still in school, but he seemed to be getting worse. So as Jack struggled as a musician, trying to make ends meet and side as a waiter, Nesta lost more and more of her freedom and teenage years. But she was happy, because Jack was determined to make her so. Because of this, his relationship with his then boyfriend suffered. His boyfriend was a high maintenance individual, and very sensitive to the emotions of others, and Jack did not want to burden him with what happened in his life. He did not want his boyfriend wot worry when Jack would much rather keep him happy, because keeping him happy was what he lived for. But it got more difficult to juggle these aspects of his life, and he had to let his boyfriend go. And Nesta got worse. The world around them got worse. And then Lord Voldemort arose and everyone feared for their lives. Thankfully, there were no muggleborns near in the family still alive, so they escaped close scrutiny. However, after being diagnosed with Leukemia, their family became fearful for Nesta. The muggle doctor's did not expect her to live long, and with the fear all around them? Nesta was not unaffected. She could no longer be safely instilled into the muggle world, and they had to pull her from muggle care to escape suspicion. The anger that arose because of this was acute, as it saw Nesta's decline in health even more. When she died, Lord Voldemort had a firm grip of the country. Devastated and restless, Jack was a mess, and he wanted to fight, but had no way to contact the Order of the Phoenix. All he knew was that Harry would call, and when he did, Jack answered. Protecting the children and defending the school was a way for him to exorcise his demons, in a way. In the aftermath of the war, things did not immediately correct themselves for Jack. He tried the music scene again, but floundered even worse as he suffered form artists block. It also became hard to go home and be reminded of his sister's death. So he worked more and more. He eventually began to work two jobs as a bartender, trying to make ends meet as he lived in Hogsmeade. Slowly, he got better. He even began to write and sing again. He's no longer thinking of making a career out of music, like his cousin had, but instead he's looking other ways. Like possibly convincing old man Aberforth to sell his tavern to him, and possibly getting it to be a little better than a dive, though he's not interested in a place quite like the Three Broomsticks. Maybe get space for live bands. It is still up in the air to him, and Aberforth still resists him in selling, likely a good thing.
